2010 - 2011 Enrollment

Student Services will be open on Saturday, August 21, 2010, from
8 :00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. to assist parents who need to enroll or transfer students before school starts on Monday.

It is important to enroll students, particularly at the elementary level, as early as possible because space at each school varies. Fall enrollment dates for the 2010-2011 began on July 19th.

Required Enrollment Documents

The documents listed below are required to complete the enrollment process:
  • Proof of Residency in GISD
    • Contract/lease agreement or most current utility bill (water, gas, or electric)
      Please note:       If you are currently living with another person and the proof of residency is in that person’s name, both you and that person will need to sign a notarized affidavit. This can be done in the Student Services or Enrollment Center offices.
  • Birth Certificate
  • Immunization Records
  • Social Security Card (if applicable)
  • Recent Report Card
  • If you are new to the Garland district - previous school records

Enrollment Forms

Enrollment forms are available at each school or at the Student Services Center.

At the time of enrollment, parents will sign a choice of school form for their child(ren). Students who are eighteen years of age or older may sign their own form.

If space is not available at your school of choice you may request placement on the school’s waiting list. The Department of Student Services can help you find an available school.

Enrollment Locations & Guidelines

A variety of factors determine the appropriate enrollment location for your child. Review the following guidelines and check the dates carefully to determine which location you should visit to complete the enrollment process.

Students with a Home Language Other Than English

All students with a home language other than English must begin the enrollment process at the Student Services Center.

Campus Enrollment Restrictions

Students in grades 6-12 with a home language of English and enrolling into a campus that is restricted due to capacity may enroll directly at the campus after August 1st.

Enrollment Dates

Students in grades Pre-K through 5 with a home language of English may enroll directly at the neighborhood school after August 4th.

Students in grades 6-12 with a home language of English and enrolling into any secondary campus that is not restricted due to capacity may enroll directly at the campus after August 1st.

  • Monday - Thursday 8:00 A.M. - 12:00 P.M. and 1:00-4:30 P.M.
  • Fridays: Closed
  • Closed July 5th - 9th

Regular Hours

  • Monday – Thursday   8:00 - 12:00 and 1:00 – 4:30
  • Friday  8:00 – 12:00 and 1:00 – 4:00
