Mission

Key to the district's mission is the establishment of clear goals and ongoing objective measurements of mission success, which are detailed in the District Improvement Plan for 2005-2008.

District Improvement Plan for 2005-2008

Mission:

Diverse Community, Shared Vision, Exceptional Education

Goals:

Goal Topic 1: Student Achievement
Effective campuses will initiate and attain measurable achievement gains for all students.

Goal Topic 2: Staff Quality
The district will recruit, hire, support, and retain highly qualified teachers and administrators.

Goal Topic 3: Partnerships
The district will involve parents/families, schools, community, and businesses in an accountable partnership to sustain an organizational structure that provides necessary resources to facilitate student success.

Development Process:

The mission of the Garland Independent School District is established in a process that draws upon a broad cross-section of the community.  In setting goals and objectives for the school district, the superintendent and board of trustees are joined by a coalition of parents, students, teachers, business partners and community leaders.

This coalition of community partners identifies the core values and current issues facing the district, and every three years produces the district’s mission roadmap, the Garland ISD District Improvement Plan

The current District Improvement Plan is the mission roadmap of goals and objectives guiding the efforts of the district’s educational team and their partners through 2005-2008.
