Trade and Industrial Education

Trade and Industrial Education is a program designed to prepare students for initial employment in trade and industrial occupations. The program objectives are:

  • To help students secure employment through experiences that deal with the performance of skills in an occupational field
  • To provide the basis for understanding and use of functional technology related to the occupational field selected
  • To help students deal with personal and group issues
  • To help students develop desirable work habits essential to job success

image of cosmetology studentsThis program area provides opportunities to learn a skill or trade in a classroom/laboratory equipped to emulate industry. The major systems are transportation, construction/maintenance, electrical/electronic, metal technology, industrial and manufacturing, communication and media, and personal and protective services.

Opportunities to develop leadership, social, and business-related skills are provided through the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA), the student organization for students enrolled in Trade and Industrial Education programs.
