Soccer games canceled for Feb. 27-28
The soccer games scheduled for the evening of Friday. Feb. 27 and the morning of Saturday, Feb. 28 have been canceled. The games will be rescheduled for Monday, March 2 and Thursday, March 5.

Boys Basketball - District Championship
The district championship in boys basketball was won by Lakeview Tuesday, Feb. 17 in a double overtime game 70-69. Rowlett and Garland High tied for 2nd.
North Garland High School will be hosting the Raider Relays Track Meet, Thursday, Feb. 19 at Williams Stadium.
Field Events start at 3:00 PM and running events start at 5:30.
Admission is $2.00 for students and $4.00 for adults.
SHS advances to next round
Sachse girls basketball advances in the state playoffs by defeating Copperas Cove 55-51. They will play the winner of the Irving Nimitz-Richardson HS game Friday night, Feb 20. Details TBA
First round of Girls Basketball Playoffs
While the 2015 girls basketball season is over for many teams, two Garland ISD high schools will continue their run into the first round of playoffs. Sachse High School clinched a share of the district 11-6A title. They share co-champion status with Rockwall HS. Lakeview Centennial finished in third place, and Tyler Lee rounded out the top four.
First round games include:
- SHS vs. Copperas Cove at 7 p.m. Feb. 16 in Glen Rose
- LCHS vs. Waco Midway at 7 p.m. Feb. 16 in Ennis
GHS freshman qualifies for State Swim Meet
Lainey Vaughn, a freshman at Garland High School has qualified to swim at the UIL State Swim Meet in Austin Feb. 20 and 21. Vaughn qualified in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.06 at the Regional Swim Meet held Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6 and 7 in Rockwall.
Sachse HS athlete selected for McDonald's All-American game
UCLA-bound Ashley Hearn, a Sachse high school senior, has been selected to play for the West team in the McDonald's All-American basketball game. Ashley is a forward averaging 17 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.
Swimmers qualify for Regional Swim Meet
North Garland and Garland High Schools competed in the district swim met on Saturday, January 24, with several athletes earning the right to move on and compete in the Regional Swim Meet. Rauquel Palma and Hunter See beat their school records in the 100 Freestyle and 200 Free Relay respectively. Good luck to all the athletes competing in the Regional Swim Meet February 6-7, 2015 in Rockwall.

GISD to host Region II Girls and Boys Basketball Tournaments
The Region II Girls Tournament will be Friday and Saturday, February 27 and 28. The Region II Boys Tournament will be held Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7 at the Curtis Culwell Center. Winners of the championship game will advance to the State Tournament in San Antonio.
