Communications
The Communications Department is committed to providing effective internal and external communication across the district. Established in February 1973, the department has a long history of helping to meet Garland ISD’s communication needs.
The department is in charge of publication design, selected special events, and crisis communication. In addition, the department oversees the operation of the district print shop and copy center, as well as GRS-TV which broadcasts 24 hours-per-day, year-round. Communications is also the contact for media relations. All media inquiries should be sent to Reavis Wortham, director of communications.
The department is also charged with creating the district calendar, handling emergency school closings and coordinating the annual United Way campaign and Teacher of the Year program.
GRS -TV
GRS-TV broadcasts continually on Time Warner cable channels 98 and 99 in Garland, Rowlett and Sachse. In addition to regular programming that showcases district students and staff, these channels are used to communicate school closing information. Story ideas and school events may be sent to production supervisor Delbert Richardson.

Print Shop
Printing Services provides low-cost, high-quality printing to district schools and departments. Capabilities include offset printing up to 17"x22", large format inkjet printing, professional typesetting and page layout, bindery services, and more. They average 43 million copies a year. The department also manages in-district mail delivery, handling more than 5,000 pieces annually. Contact Tom Brown or Boyd Pace for more information.

E-Loop
E-Loop is the district’s electronic staff newsletter. It is published the first week of each month during the school year and can be accessed through the GISD Intranet. Story ideas and suggestions may be sent to Chris Moore, communications coordinator.
Board Notes
Informing GISD constituents of school board decisions, Board Notes is written twice a month. It can be accessed through the Web site's News section following each Thursday night board meeting.
