Career Counseling

A quality guidance and counseling program is provided for all secondary students to:

  • Plan, develop, and implement a guidance program that contains a strong career development component designed to meet the needs of all students.
  • Provide students and parents with information about current and emerging careers.
  • Provide opportunities for interested students to explore careers that are nontraditional for their gender.
  • Provide guidance and support to assist students in preparing for high-skill, high-wage careers.
  • Collect and disseminate employment data and projections to students and parents.
  • Provide all parents and students the opportunity to identify and develop broad career options through flexible individual graduation plans. Students should have the opportunity to reevaluate and revise graduation plans based on their developing interests, talents, and aptitudes.
  • Inform students and parents of opportunities for financial assistance for postsecondary education and training.
  • Eliminate barriers to educational success for all students by facilitating access to assessments, information, recruitment, placement, resources, and support services appropriate to each student's needs.
  • Provide support services for students who are members of special populations.
