To the Students and Parents of Garland I.S.D.:
This website (or a printed copy of the web pages) contains the current course offerings for high school students in Garland ISD. Several areas merit your careful attention.
Students should be planning how to earn their high school diploma. Students are required to choose one of the three graduation programs (Minimum, Recommended, or Distinguished Achievement). Each of the three graduation plans has specific course requirements.
According to Texas law, students must also pass all parts of the state‐mandated examinations in order to graduate. Current twelfth grade students took the 4 TAKS exams (English Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies) in the spring of the eleventh grade year. Students currently enrolled in grades 11, 10, 9, or 8 will take the 4 TAKS exams during their eleventh grade year. Those who do not master any of the 4 TAKS exams the first time will have additional chances to take them before their scheduled graduation. Any student in regular education who has not mastered all 4 parts of the TAKS exams by May of the twelfth grade year cannot receive a diploma or participate in the graduation ceremonies held in May/June.
School personnel are available to work with students and parents and to ensure that each student has a four‐year plan of study suitable to that individual's needs and interests.
Best wishes in your pursuit of a quality high school education.
