GISD Minimum Program
Students receiving credit for Integrated Physics and Chemistry (IPC) prior to high school must complete a total of four credits.

State Recommended Program
Beginning with 1998-99 freshmen, students must
take Biology and two of the following courses:
Integrated Physics and Chemistry (IPC), Chemistry, and Physics.
(This is not a requirement for Texas Scholars for 1998-99 and 1999-00 freshmen, but is required for State Recommended and Distinguished Achievement programs.)
Four years of science are required for students receiving credit for Integrated Physics and Chemistry (IPC) prior to high school.

State Recommended:

  • 3.5 credits of a sequence of courses for career and technology
    preparation (must all be Career and Technology courses.)

Option III:

3.5 academic credits from language arts (including speech &
journalism),
science, social studies, mathematics, languages other than English, fine arts, and/or computer science
(must all be courses in these departments.)
