Plan for Graduation

Graduation - that's what it's all about....

But graduation is more than the big day.

Graduation represents years of hard work and commitment. That kind of sustained success is best achieved with early planning and preparation.

Planning for graduation begins much sooner than you might think. There are opportunities for students to take courses for high school credit while still in middle school. In the spring of their 8th grade year, students meet with their counselors to create a 4-Year plan for high school and select their freshman courses.

Planning has become even more important in recent years due to the 4x4 changes in graduation requirements. High school is a student's opportunity to explore their interests but to fit everything in, they may need to consider less traditional options for additional credit such as online learning or summer school.

Perhaps you are thinking even further ahead and are interested in earning college credit in high school which is possible with programs such as Dual Credit and Advanced Placement.

Before you know it, senior year will be here and it will be time to think about celebrating with Senior Awards Day and Graduation.

GraduatesThe Guidance & Counseling department and all GISD staff members are committed to helping each student achieve their goal: Graduation.
