Garland ISD is proud to offer a competitive benefits package designed in part by Garland ISD employees, members of the GISD Benefits Committee. A select group from across the District make up the GISD Benefits Committee and meet several times per year to keep abreast of the changing insurance environment and its effects on the benefit plans offered by GISD, in particular the Garland ISD Health Plan.
Employees who are active contributing members of the Teacher Retirement System are eligible to enroll in benefits offered by Garland ISD. New employees have 30 days from date of employment to complete their benefit paperwork and submit it to the Garland ISD Benefits Department. Most benefits elected will be effective the first of the month following 30 days of employment, assuming the employee is actively at work on that date.
The District offers a variety of benefit plans. Employees may purchase any or all of them independent of health plan participation.
