College Sign PhotoThe College and Career Magnet program, housed at Lakeview Centennial High School, is designed to prepare motivated students for entering college. Through college level courses or career exploration, students have the opportunity to leave high school with the educational foundation and critical thinking skills to pursue future goals.

Students can choose from several college/career paths, including:

Dual Enrollment
Students are concurrently enrolled in regular high school classes and college-level classes through Eastfield Community College. Through dual enrollment, students can earn as many as 24 hours of college credit while still in high school.
Law and Criminal Justice
This specialized course of study is targeted to students considering a career in the legal field. Students choose from two strands – Pre-Law or Protective Services. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the many areas of specialization within the legal community.
Television Production and Broadcasting
Using a “hands-on” approach utilizing industry standard equipment, students are exposed to all aspects of video production, from concept and news gathering to studio production.
Classical Studies
The “classical” strand of curriculum from the Classical Centers at Vial Elementary and Brandenburg Middle Schools expands to the high school level. Courses at LCHS include dance, gymnastics, Latin, and piano.
Ready, Set, Teach!
Students in this program will plan and direct individualized instruction and group activities, prepare instructional materials, assist with record keeping, make physical arrangements, and complete other responsibilities of a classroom teacher. Students will be involved in observations and direct student instruction. Students will experience a full range of education related career roles, grade levels, subject areas, and ability groups.
AVID
This elective course provides college-bound students the additional training in writing, study skills, note-taking, and critical analysis which are needed to be successful in rigorous academic studies. AVID students are required to be enrolled in at least one Pre-AP, AP or Dual Enrollment course. College visits, tutors, and assistance are also a part of the program.
