School Accountability Ratings

The Texas Education Agency has released school ratings for 2011, based on test scores and data compiled at the close of the 2010-2011 school year. In addition to individual ratings for campuses around the state, the agency also rates the school districts.

  • Spring 2011 TAKS test: At least 90% of all students and 90% of each student population group passed each section of the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills test, including Reading/ELA, Writing, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science. The student population groups include:
    • African-American
    • Hispanic
    • White
    • Economically Disadvantaged
  • Annual Dropout Rate during 09-10 school year:
    1.6% or less of all students and each student population groups or meets required improvement. (middle school indicator only)
  • Completion Rate
    At least 95% of students in the class of 2010 graduated, received a GED or continued in school. (high school indicator only)

To earn the "Recognized" rating, campuses had to meet the following standards:

  • Spring 2011 TAKS Testing:
    At least 80% of all students and 80% of each student population group passed each section of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test. Subjects included Reading/ELA, Writing, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science; or 75% floor and required improvement.
    The student groups include:

  • Annual Dropout Rate for 2009-2010 school year:
    1.6% or less of all students and each student population groups or meets required improvement. (middle school indicator only)

    • Mathematics - 65%
    • Science - 60%
  • Annual Drop-out Rate 2009-2010
    1.6% or less of all students and each student population groups or meets required improvement. (middle school indicator only)
  • Completion Rate:
    At least 75% of students in the class of 2009 graduated, received a GED or continued in school; or meets required improvement (high school indicator only)

Alternative Education Accountability (AEA)

Two campuses in Garland ISD are classified as "alternative education" schools. One campus earned "alternative education acceptable school."

One campus earned "alternative education unacceptable school."
