Kindergarten Programs

Kindergarten classes are offered at all the district's elementary campuses. Children who will be five years old on or before September 1 of the coming school year, are eligible to enroll in the kindergarten program. Beginning with the 2006-2007 school year, all kindergarten classes will be full-day (8:00 am - 3:10 pm).

For kindergarten students whose home language is other than English, enrollment is available at LEP Enrollment Center, located in the Student Services Center at 720 Stadium Drive in Garland. For more information, call 972-494-8585.

Parents who have not enrolled children in school before may not be aware of the "Choice of School" process. While it is not mandatory that you begin the enrollment process now, we highly recommend that parents participate in the "Choice of School" period if at all possible. In other words, if you were to wait until late July to enroll your child, the chances that space will be available at your school of choice will be greatly diminished. If you have a friend or neighbor who has a child who would qualify to enroll in kindergarten for the upcoming school year, please advise them of the "Choice of School" information.

When enrolling a child for the first time in Garland ISD schools, you will need to request and complete Form SP999 - an Enrollment document that includes the "choice of school" information. You should make sure that you do NOT merely turn in the color-coded Choice of School form, which is numbered SP900 and is printed on salmon-colored paper. Without the enrollment information included in form SP999, we cannot enter your child into the system.
