Prekindergarten Program

If you have a child who will be four years old on or before September 1st, the child may be eligible to enroll in Prekindergarten classes. The Pre-K classes are offered at selected campuses for eligible youngsters. Students observe the same school calendar as other GISD students. All Pre-K classes are half-day.

Eligibility:

  • The child must be four years old before September 1st
  • The child must be Limited English Proficient (i.e. has limited ability in speaking or understanding English)

OR

  • The family's income must qualify for free or reduced lunch according to federal income eligibility guidelines. (Applications for free/reduced lunch are available each year after August 1 through the GISD Food Service Offices or at the child's school on the first day of school. )

OR

  • The child's parent is an active duty military member or the parent was killed or injured while on active duty.

OR

Each child will attend only one session daily.
