Information Systems
The Data Operations Team is responsble for providing accurate and confidential student data in a timely and efficient manner for district departments and campuses as required by district policy and government regulations.
- Maintain district course master, assist in building schedules
- Daily Register/Attendance reporting
- Academic Achievement Records/Transcripts
- Grade Reporting-Progress notices, Report Cards, Honor Rolls, Class Ranking
- Develop grade reporting calendars
- Assist in deployment of OEYP
- Nightly backup and maintenance of all systems
- Monitor networked printers at each campus used for printing reports and report cards
- Program Enterprise Output Manager—All forms used by a school or dept are setup and programmed
- Archive Data (Cold Storage)— AAR, Report Cards, DR reports
- Communicate with data clerks, counselors, registrars and administrators at every campus to solve student data problems when necessary
The Open Systems Team is responsible for maintaining the health and integrity of student information and personnel databases
- Responsible for 30 database servers and software…including ERP
- Keep operating system software current
- Database administrator for SQL Server and Oracle Systems
- Databases include the following applications:
- Gradebook
- Trapeze (Transportation/bus routing software)
- Student System (MAPPER) includes production and development systems
- EBMS—Event Management software
- State PID table-system of over 9 million records
- Cool ICE/ICE Rads
- ERP
- Backup and Restore for all database servers
- Provide all UNIX support
- Participate and provide recommendations for future database considerations
- Maintain DEPCON (Print Distribution) hardware and software
- Maintain the Intranet Web Interfaces including Cool Ice (not including the GISD home page)
- Training
The Application Systems Team is responsible for developing, maintaining and supporting all student applications and student support services for GISD.
- Responsiblilites include designing, programming and debugging:
- Student demographics
- Special programs (Special Ed, Career and Tech, Bilingual/ESL, Title I, PIP, etc)
- Attendance
- Grade reporting (Transcripts/AAR, Teacher and student schedules, grade book, Elementary permanent records)
- Health Services
- Testing/PRE
- Student enrollment and CHOICE
- Transportation Services
- Textbooks
- PEIMS file development and data transfer
- Third party software interfaces
- Discipline
- Facilities and Maintenance
- Loctot (Location Totals)
