Bus Transportation
Garland Independent School District provides school bus transportation for students who live more than two miles from a school they can attend.
The Freedom of Choice Plan gives parents an option of choosing any other available school within the district; however, parents must provide transportation to an alternate choice.
Bus stops are designed based on demographics, walking distance to stop and ridership in the area. Overall student safety is the most important factor in determining bus stop placement.
Texas Education Agency guidelines are used to establish the distance each student may walk to the bus stop. Students are required to be at their bus stop at least 5 (five) minutes prior to the scheduled stop time.
