Title IX:
No administrative officer or employee of the Garland Independent School district, acting in his/her official capacity, may discriminate on the basis of a person’s sex, race, religion, color, age, language, or national origin regarding personnel practices, including assigning, hiring, promoting, compensating, and discharging employees; use of facilities; awarding contracts; or participation in programs.
No student shall, on the basis of sex, race, religion, language or national origin, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity sponsored by the school district except as specifically provided in the Title IX implementing regulations.

Section 504:
No qualified handicapped person shall, on the basis of handicap, be excluded from participation, be denied the benefits of, or otherwise be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity sponsored by the school district except as specifically provided in section 504 Implementing Regulations. The Garland Independent School District does not discriminate on the basis of disability by denying access to the benefits of District services, programs, or activities.

Garland Independent School District offers career and technical education programs in Agricultural Sciences, Business Education, Career Orientation, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health Science Technology, Marketing Education, Trade and Industrial Education and Technology Education. Admission to these programs is based on:
- Career interests
- Age appropriateness
- Class space available
- Prerequisites and aptitude for the program
- Adherence to school rules and regulations
It is the policy of the Garland Independent School District not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex or handicap in its vocational programs, services or activities as required by Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972; and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended.
