Certification:
- If you are not a certified teacher or will not be certified upon graduation from college, you need to be part of an alternative certification program or be associated with a post-baccalaureate certification program. If you are not in a certification program there will be representatives from several certification programs present at the Job Fair. You should visit with the representatives of the certification programs before talking with a school district.
- Each school district determines if they will interview or place non-certified candidates or candidates who are part of an alternative certification program. This is an individual decision and may be determined by the content area of the applicant.
- If you are a certified teacher from out of state it is important to begin the process of certification review in advance of the Job Fair. Information for certification review by the Texas Education Agency can be obtained from their web site ( www.sbec.state.tx.us ).
What to Expect:
- Each school district, in attendance, from the North Central Texas/DFW Area will conduct their procedures individually and in a manner and means that they determine. Not all districts will conduct direct individual interviews at the Job Fair; however, may do and you should be prepared for the variation in individual district procedures.
- The body of the Job Fair will run from 8:30 AM until 2:30 PM. Districts have the ability to remain for interviews at the Convention Center until 4:00 PM. The decision to schedule interviews until 4:00 PM is an individual district decision.
