Board Notes: June 7, 2007

At the June 7th School Board meeting, GISD Trustees:

  • Administered the Oath of Office to two re-elected Trustees, Ms. Linda Griffin and Mr. Robert Harris.
  • Administered the Oath of Office to the newly elected Trustee, Mr. Larry Glick.
  • Elected Board Officers for the 2007-08 school year.  They are:

  • Approved Jan Minx as Board Clerk.
  • Approved the continued use of the 2006-07 Board President and Secretary facsimile signatures.
  • Approved tax refunds.
  • Approved budget requirements and transfers among function codes.
  • Approved the District Band Depository Bid.
  • Approved bids for the purchase of catalog office supplies; vent hood suppression systems; kitchen safety and sanitation service; drill team uniforms for Garland and South Garland high schools; remote audience response system; web-based state and local assessment data warehouse system; content management systems; computer workstations; sand and gravel; plumbing supplies; campus safety audits; lamps, bulbs, ballasts, and fuses service; floor care products; site adaptation for probable buildings service.
  • Approved the bid for Custodial Contract.
  • Approved bids for folding stage flooring.
  • Approved the declaration and disposal of surplus buses.
  • Approved the School Resource Officer Agreement for Garland Schools.
  • Heard on first reading Board Policy CH (Local).
  • Reviewed Board Policies BDB (Local) and BE (Local).
  • Received information pertaining to the 2007-08 Salary Schedule.
  • Heard a report of the Compensatory Education Home Instruction (CEHI) Waiver.
  • Received the 2007 State Assessment Results.
