Board Notes: February 21, 2008

Lakeview Centennial High School's ESL department was honored with an Evidence of Excellence award at Thursday night's Garland ISD Board Meeting in the Harris Hill Administration Building.

Jennifer Peirson, Lakeview Centennial HS assistant principal, visits with Trustees as the school's ESL teachers stand with their Evidence of Excellence awards. The teachers earned a $3,000 writing grant from the College Board.

Lakeview received the honor for becoming one of only six campuses nationwide to receive the third annual “Bob Costas Grant for the Teaching of Writing,” given by the College Board organization. The grant recognizes exceptional teachers who use innovative methods that inspire students to write, and totals $3,000.

    services; two-color offset printing press; dish machine and lime remover chemicals (third- year option); paperback and miscellaneous books (second-year option); catalog office
    furniture (third-year option); temporary personnel services.
  • Approved bids for tennis court resurfacing
  • Approved Dallas Regional Day School Program for the Deaf (DRDSPD) Shared Service Agreement
  • Approved revisions to Local Board Policies included in TASB Update 81 on second reading
  • Approved personnel matters as recommended by GISD Administration in Executive Session.
