Article Date: January 10, 2007

Sample copies of state-adopted textbooks which have been offered for implementation into the Garland Independent School District will be on public display Jan. 10-March 1 at the Nicholson Memorial Library’s Central Location.

GISD patrons are encouraged to review the proposed elementary mathematics textbooks, which would be implemented in the 2008-09 school year. Comments are welcome and may be forwarded to:

Executive Director of School Improvement
Garland Independent School District

Written comments received before February 7 will be included as part of a textbook hearing slated that same day at the district’s Shugart Professional Development Center. On Feb. 21, the Central Textbook Committee will meet in the Shugart Center to vote on recommendations to forward to the School Board.

Both meetings begin at 5 p.m. and are open to the public.

The Central Textbook Committee will then present its recommendations to GISD Trustees at the School Board’s regularly scheduled meeting on March 6.
