Board Notes: January 17, 2008
The Rowlett High School Brass Quintet entertained Garland ISD Trustees and administrators, and was honored with the district’s Evidence of Excellence award at the Harris Hill Administration Building during Thursday night’s Board Meeting.
The talented musicians recently traveled to Chicago and performed at the 61st Annual Midwest Clinic – an international band and orchestra conference. The invitation-only event is conducted exclusively for educational purposes and entertains 14,000 attendees annually.
Also honored by Trustees was the GISD Business Office which received a Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from two of the country’s leading financial institutions for the 19th consecutive year.
Representatives from Hickman Elementary School, Memorial Middle School and Sachse High School also accepted plaques after the three campuses claimed top honors in the 2007 Garland Christmas Association Canned Food Drive.
