Garland ISD Trustees approved the 2008-09 salary schedule at Thursday night's board meeting in the Harris Hill Administration Building. The approval sets into place a three-percent midpoint raise for each employee.
Trustees also recognized former board member Rick Howard, who passed away this spring. Howard's wife, Carol, accepted a resolution and framed collage of the longtime Garland resident who dedicated much of his life to public service.
"Rick loved working for the school district and with each of you," Carol said. "He wanted to get as much value as he could from any project or decision made regarding Garland ISD. But even more so, everything he did as a board member was about the school children."
Boy Scout Troop 57 of Garland was also recognized. Troop members in attendance were pursuing their Communications/Citizenship in Community badges.
