Prompt, Efficient Parental Notification System Set to Launch This Fall
Article Date: September 10, 2008
Serving almost 57,000 students and 7,500 employees, Garland ISD recognizes the value of effective communication. And beginning this 2008-09 school year, the twelfth-largest school district in Texas will improve its already reliable communications system with the introduction of cutting-edge technology.
GISD is joining forces with SchoolMessenger – a national leader in providing superior parental notification solutions – to communicate with thousands of parents and staff regarding urgent situations, exclusive school events and important issues. This proactive upgrade will assist the district with communication during times of crisis.
SchoolMessenger will be implemented this fall, but to perform most effectively, it is reliant upon the most up-to-date contact numbers for families and staff. GISD officials also stress that campuses must be informed of changes throughout the school year.
“The exciting technology supplied by SchoolMessenger will allow the district to make contact with all parents and guardians in a matter of minutes, but it will only work if our information is up to date,” said Reavis Wortham, director of communications. “Whether it's a routine absence call or an emergency situation, this notification system allows us to quickly and effectively communicate with parents, students and staff.”
The district will launch SchoolMessenger in the fall semester of the 2008-09 school year.
