Board Notes: April 2, 2009

Article Date: April 2, 2009

The word was "exacerbate." E-X-A-C-E-R-B-A-T-E.

That correct spelling clinched first place in the Garland City Spelling Bee earlier this year for Sarah Giles of Spring Creek Elementary. And Sarah was rewarded for her efforts with the school board's Evidence of Excellence Award at Thursday's board meeting in the Harris Hill Administration Building.

Evidence of Excellence

Sarah navigated her way through contestants from 56 schools and several rounds before being named champion, which earned her the right to represent GISD in the Dallas County Spelling Bee. There, Sarah again did a wonderful job representing the district.
