Title I is part of the federal No Child Left Behind law – the largest federal-aid program available for K-12 education. Beaver was recognized because of demonstrated strengths in creating opportunities for students to meet proficient and advanced levels of performance, and providing strong professional development and coordination with other school programs.
The campus curriculum and instruction also supports achievement and high standards while creating partnerships among schools, parents and the GISD community.
Beaver will be recognized in April by the Association for Compensatory Educators state conference. Officials from the Texas Education Agency will visit the campus in May for the official recognition National Title I ceremony.
More than $14 billion is awarded annually through formula and discretionary grants. No Child Left Behind helps ensure that children from all social economic backgrounds are given equity and access to a high-quality education.
