Grainger Donates $5K to Career and Technical Student Enrichment

Last month, the Garland ISD Career and Technical Education Department received a $5,000 donationfrom The Grainger Foundation. The resources will be usedfor trade and technology scholarships to benefit students in their pursuit of training at the secondary and postsecondary level.

Jody Stroup and Steve Horne of Grainger present a scholarship grant to Dr. Phil Gilbreath and Dr. Phyllis Parker of Garland ISD for student enrichment in Career and Technical classes. Grainger representatives were delighted to help support GISD students and ensure success within the local economy by putting Garland-area funds back into the school district.

Grainger representatives Jody Stroup and Steve Horne presented the scholarship to Dr. Phil Gilbreath and Dr. Phyllis Parker of GISD.

Grainger, a local distributor of facilities maintenance supplies, has a long history of giving back to the communities in which its employees live and work. Grainger is also committed to supporting the growing need of skilled tradespeople in today’s workplace.

“We want to give back to the community that supports us and see the results,” said Stroup, branch manager for the Garland Grainger location. “It always helps when you can look back and witness these donated resources take hold. Grainger is proud to show our support for local students pursuing technical careers.”

Gilbreath,the district’s director of Career and Technical Education, thanked the Grainger representatives for their genuine interest in GISD students and their contribution.
