Ethridge Kindergarten Students Honor Dr. Seuss
Article Date: March 30, 2009
On March 6th, Ethridge Elementary Bobcats lined the hallways of their school to view a Dr. Seuss parade put on by the Kindergarten class. The parade celebrated the legendary author Dr. Seuss and his birthday.
Each Kindergarten class chose one Dr. Seuss book to honor with a float decorated to depict the book’s storyline and characters. The Kindergarten classes chose to honor “The Sneetches” (Ms. Rottman’s class), “Ten Apples on Top” (Ms. Teng’s class), “The Eye Book” (Ms. Alvarez’s class), “The Cat in the Hat” (Ms. Moore’s class), “C is for Clown” (Ms. Franz’s class), and “Dr. Seuss’ ABC’s” (Ms. Morrison’s class).

In preparation for the Dr. Seuss parade the Kindergarteners studied Dr. Seuss and his books for most of February in class. With the help of their parents and teachers they decorated the Ethridge hallways and their floats to get ready for the parade.
It was a success! When the Kindergarteners finished the parade route, everyone gathered in the cafeteria to hear “Green Eggs and Ham” from the Ethridge Assistant Principal, Ms. Sotelo. The cafeteria was filled with parents, Kindergarten through Second grade, and the Ethridge Principal, Ms. Opon.
One Kindergartener said it best. When asked, “Did you enjoy the Dr. Seuss parade?” he answered, “This is the best day ever!”
