Garland ISD Continues Free Financial Aid Workshops
Article Date: March 3, 2009
March marks the final month that Garland ISD will offer valuable insight for families looking to finance a college education. And the advice is free of charge.
Through the end of this month, the district will continue providing one-stop shopping that breaks down available financial resources and various tuition requirements for college attendance. GISD’s Financial Aid Workshop will also offer attendees guidance with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and step-by-step assistance with this cumbersome – but manageable – process.
The four final courses of the year are slated for March 10, 12, 26 and 26. All take place from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. in room 417 at the Garland Evening High School.
Attendees will need their houeshold’s 2008 income record and the following items, which vary based on the student’s filing status:
- Student and parent social security numbers
- Student and parent driver licenses
- Student and parent 2008 W-2 forms
- Student and parent 2008 federal income tax returns
- Student 2008 untaxed income records
- Student and parent current bank statements
- Student and parent registration/resident cards
- Student and parent stock, bond and other investment records
To register for a course, students must sign-up in the counselor’s office at least seven days prior to the class date they wish to attend. Parents should be present. Sessions are limited to 10 participants.
For more information, contact a high school counselor at the student’s home campus.
