GISD Family Mourns Loss of Former Trustee Randy Clark

Former Garland ISD trustee Dr. G. Randall Clark passed away Tuesday, October 27. Dr. Clark was elected to the Board of Trustees in 1986. He served as President in the 1988-89 school year.

After re-election in 1992 and 1995, Dr. Clark again served as President of the Board. He was re-elected in 1998, served as President during the 2000-01 school year, and re-elected again in 2001, 2004. Dr. Clark retired on July 20, 2006, after serving as President yet again for the 2006-07 school year.
Dr. Clark graduated from Garland High School in 1969. He then received his Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University. He graduated from the Baylor College of Dentistry in 1976.
“I ran for the school board because of my dedication to education and to participate in the educational experience of children,” Dr. Clark once said.
“He was a man who believed in the value of education,” said Dr. Curtis Culwell, Superintendent of Schools. “Few people can match the dedication toward excellence that was exemplified by this caring and compassionate man.”
Visitation is set for 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, at Williams Funeral Home. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at First Methodist Church in Garland.
