The Bond 2014 program is currently in the construction process for phase 0 projects and the design process for phase 1. Concrete work has started at high school baseball and softball fields with primary areas of focus including underground utilities, excavation, drilled piers and foundation work. GISD also recently completed its addition of artificial turf at high school practice fields. To learn more and see pictures of progress, watch the board presentation.
Trustees recognized two principals with Evidence of Excellence awards for being singled out among thousands across the state. Ray Merrill and Coleman Bruman were named Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year for Region 10 by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals. The Garland High School Math Competition Team also received an Evidence of Excellence award for its longstanding tradition of excellence. Students advanced further than any other Garland ISD team, placing fifth at state UIL. Additionally, they won every category at the Texas Tech University Summer Math & Science Camp.
