Enrollment Center Clinic
We provide a variety of health and related services to students and their families. The clinic at the Enrollment Center is staffed with a full time registered nurse and clinic assistant. Please call our office at 972-494-8538 for an appointment or more information.
Texas state laws require that students are current with immunizations to enroll in school. Our clinic can help students get the immunizations they need in order to attend school.
Help with verification
We assist with checking immunization records to verify that every student that enrolls through the enrollment center is current with immunizations.
The Immunization Clinic will be open the fourth Monday of every month from 5-7 p.m. with no appointment needed. In addition to scheduled clinics, Immunization Clinics are also available by appointment on Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Please call our office at 972-494-8538 to set up an appointment.
Who can use the immunization clinic?
Vaccines are free for students that:
- don’t have insurance
- are underinsured
- have Medicaid
- are American Indian/Native American or Alaskan Native
If a student is covered by private insurance, they must see their primary-care physician for immunizations. Students covered by CHIP need to go to the Garland Health Department or their primary-care physician in order to get immunizations.
We can help qualifying students and family members apply for:
- CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program)
- TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)
- SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) formerly “food stamps”
Service Organization Referrals
A social worker is on staff to assist with referrals to various local service organizations.
Nutrition/Diabetes Prevention Classes
Clinic staff members teach classes “Power Over Diabetes” and “Healthy Kids Healthy Families” to students, families, GISD staff and community members.
Vision Clinics are provided in collaboration with the Garland Lions Club. Students must be referred by their school nurse.
