Federal measure offers free meals for all at 23 campuses

Free meals for all will become the new norm at 23 Garland ISD campuses this year. The schools qualified to implement the Community Eligibility Provision, a federal measure that aims to ensure each student receives nutritious meals. Under this service option, campuses will offer breakfast and lunch at no charge to all students without requiring a completed household application. Provision eligibility is based on the percentage of students approved for needs-based programs, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and children who are displaced or in special circumstances.
