GISD Cybersafety Week

Monday, September 18, 2017 to Friday, September 22, 2017

This designated week is just one of the many ways we promote safe and effective online learning. Cybersafety instruction is integrated into classroom lessons, library activities and counseling sessions.

During this week, students will discuss concepts such as:

  • privacy and security
  • digital footprints
  • cyberbullying
  • internet safety
  • self-image
  • copyright
  • communication

Cybersafey pledge

We ask all students to take the Cybersafety pledge:

  • I will think before I post.
  • I will protect myself online.
  • I will respect others online.

Poster contest

Students can choose to participate in a Cybersafety Poster Contest for the opportunity to win a sphero SPRK+ robot. Posters are due September 22. Ask your librarian for more details.

Learn more about cybersafety

We want students to make good decisions online that protect their safety, personal information and reputation. They need support and guidance to use the Internet and other connected environments safely and effectively. We invite you to learn more about cyberbullying, digital citizenship, social media, risky apps and safe gaming on our Cybersafety page. You can also find family tip sheets and other featured resources.
