Local landscaping companies give back with new school garden

Naaman Forest High School recently received a new addition thanks to the Texas Nursery & Landscape Association. Several local companies volunteered their time, equipment, plant material, irrigation and labor Feb. 9-10 to install a large new garden at the campus. Naaman Forest is Garland ISD’s only school to have a horticulture program, and students worked alongside their industry professionals to not only beautify the campus but also to learn real-world skills. A horticulture graduate from NFHS was even responsible for the landscape design. Raul Peraza graduated in 2012 and is currently attending Texas A&M, majoring in Landscape Architecture. His design features the letters N and F in shrubbery, as well as sitting benches to admire several other types of plants.
