Message from the Superintendent

Garland ISD’s bond election passed Nov. 4 with 62 percent of voters in favor.

From the outset, it has been our goal to encourage Garland ISD stakeholders to take advantage of their opportunity to vote. We simply wanted to help them understand the facts of what this school district is facing so they could make educated decisions when casting their ballots.

This community has now entrusted Garland ISD with a responsibility that we embrace and do not take lightly. This trust will allow us to address aging facilities as soon as next spring, which will go a very long way in meeting the educational needs of our students and staff.

Trustees and the district have been open and clear throughout this entire process, and that transparency will continue as projects get underway next spring. With this level of responsibility, the community should expect nothing less.

We thank the voters of our communities—Garland, Rowlett and Sachse—for voting, being part of this process and taking an interest in GISD. We will continue working together to provide the best educational environment for our students and staff.

Bob Morrison, Superintendent of Schools
