Cybersafety art yields awareness, rewards

Garland ISD is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for students and employees. That is why the district hosts Cybersafety Week, a yearly observation in which information and tips are integrated into classroom activities.

Annual greeting card contest crowns winners

Garland ISD kicks off its annual Fifth Grade Greeting Card Contest in November, inviting elementary schools to submit one entry each. District judges then cast their votes in December, and the top three designs are chosen as winners.

Ashlyn Bickings named Jupiter Chevrolet Teacher of the Month

Jupiter Chevrolet’s Teacher of the Month wrapped vehicle will close out 2015-16 at Freeman Elementary School. Second-grade teacher Ashlyn Bickings won the honors May 12, receiving the surprise in front of her students and principal, Kelly Garcia. 

“I cannot believe my kids did this. It is so sweet," Bickings said. "It is really special that the kids and parents voted for me. It just means a whole lot. I am excited."

Campus Teachers of the Year

Seventy-one Garland ISD educators have been named 2015-16 Campus Teachers of the Year, receiving a gift and tickets to the June 8 Garland ISD Night at the Texas Rangers game.
