Elementary student earns top music honor

Eleven-year-old Michael Moore was among just 150 fourth, fifth and sixth-graders selected to perform with the Texas Choral Directors Association Honor Choir. More than 800 across the state auditioned for a spot.

LCHS gymnastics continues longstanding streak at state

For the fifth-consecutive year, the boys team qualified for state during the 2017-18 season, where they claimed 10th overall. Three members of the girls team advanced to the state meet as well—and two of them achieved this impressive accomplishment as freshman.

Middle schools advance to national Academic Pentathlon competition

The academic excellence of Garland ISD students is gaining national attention thanks to Austin Academy for Excellence and Jackson Technology Center for Math and Science. The United States Academic Pentathlon National Competition was held last month in Omaha, Nebraska, with GISD students taking home several top prizes.
