Security warning for students

Garland Police are looking for suspects believed to have stolen cell phones from teenagers waiting for school buses or walking to school. The incidents occurred in the 1600 block of North Glenbrook Drive, 3400 block of Galaxie Road and 4800 block of Sprucewood Lane.

GISD wants your input to help name new CTE Center

The district is inviting community members to help name its new Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center, slated to open in fall 2017. 

The CTE Center will allow students to explore interests regardless of their home campus. Courses include everything from animation to culinary arts to engineering, offered in morning or afternoon sessions.

The facility will also showcase Garland ISD's and Junior Achievement of Dallas’ joint venture—BizTown—a simulated city designed to teach sixth-graders about participating in a global economy.

Community invited to Live Well, Go Green Expo

Looking to lead a healthy and environmentally friendly lifestyle? Don't miss the 2016 Live Well, Go Green Expo from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 24 at the Curtis Culwell Center. Formerly called the Healthy Living Expo, Garland ISD is once again partnering with the City of Garland to host this year's event.

Homer Johnson leaves mark on GISD

Leaving a lasting mark, Homer Johnson has announced his retirement from Garland ISD. The legendary Executive Director of Athletics will end a 68-year career with the district Aug. 31.

Montessori comes to GISD

Phasing in over the next few years, Montessori debuts in 2016-17 with six primary classes at each campus, consisting of three and four-year-olds, as well as kindergartners.
