Thanks to the efforts of students and staff, 70,000 canned goods were donated to Good Samaritans of Garland, Life Message in Rowlett, and 5 Loaves Food Pantry in Sachse as part of the district's annual food drive.
Garland ISD recently helped cut the ribbon for a new educational resource for North Texas students. Junior Achievement of Dallas opened the area’s first JA BizTown this fall inside the district’s new Gilbreath-Reed Career and Technical Center.
The Garland ISD Education Foundation is celebrating 25 years and more than $1.5 million gifted in grants and scholarships to staff and students. A celebration breakfast held this fall featured the impact the Foundation has had throughout the district.
Carver and Freeman elementary schools, as well as Kimberlin Academy for Excellence, were named winners in the City of Garland’s Clothing Recycling Competition. The campuses received cash prizes for going green and helping others in need.
Garland ISD students recently made regional history. Sixth-graders from Webb Middle School became the first to step into North Texas’ inaugural JA BizTown, kicking off the district’s newest hands-on learning experience Oct. 17.
