Adding another designation to its title of Math, Science and Technology magnet, North Garland High School received a three-year distinction as an Advancement Via Individual Determination National Demonstration School.
Garland ISD offers several opportunities to start saving money during high school. In addition to dual credit classes, Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate can also reduce the number of college courses needed--and the district now pays for all AP and IB exams.
Numerous studies have linked extracurricular activities to improved academic performance. To increase its extracurricular options and impact even more students, Garland ISD introduced a middle school soccer program in 2014-15.

Garland ISD special education students experience basketball, bowling and track and field competitions, thanks to the district’s official partnership with the international Special Olympics organization.
With student success in mind, GISD partnered with world-renowned teacher and speaker Adolph Brown to launch a Professional School Based Mentoring Program, which debuted at 14 schools in 2015-16.
