While most other districts require students to attend the school closest to home, Garland ISD gives its students the unique opportunity to attend any campus. Families with students in grades 5-11 can make their top three selections from Jan. 30-Feb. 28.
Facing intense entrance exams, an ultra-competitive acceptance process and a new chapter in life, high schoolers are under a lot of stress when it comes to planning for college. Luckily, Garland ISD boasts a plethora of resources to get students ready, including free tests, personalized practice and tuition assistance.
Garland ISD is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for students and employees. That is why the district hosts Cybersafety Week, a yearly observation in which information and tips are integrated into classroom activities.
With more than 8,600 schools throughout Texas, seven from Garland ISD rate among the top six percent. Approximately 400 schools in Texas achieved a Met Standard rating and all available distinction designations. GISD’s Austin, Hillside, Kimberlin and Walnut Glen Academies for Excellence, as well as Roach and Spring Creek elementary schools and North Garland High School are among those campuses.
