GISD students earn more than $100,000 for good grades

In Garland ISD, it pays to get good grades. Hundreds of district students are receiving thousands of dollars for the third-consecutive year as part of the National Math & Science Initiative (NMSI) College Readiness Program. Awarding students $100 per passing AP score, more than 900 students across GISD's seven high schools will receive $140,700 collectively this year. Campuses are celebrating honorees with pep rallies in October and November, complete with giant checks, special cheers and school spirit.

RHS senior named Hometown Hero

Fox 4 News has named senior Payton Small a Hometown Hero for starting a clothes closet at Methodist Richardson Medical Center. She is helping get patients who are homeless and recovering from addiction the resources they need to get back on their feet.

Brandenburg Honors Band earns national award

The Classical Center at Brandenburg Middle School was named a winner in the 2017 Mark of Excellence/National Wind Band Honors project. More than 275 of the nation’s finest middle and high school ensembles entered this competition by submitting recordings.
