The Gilbreath-Reed Career and Technical Center was recently named one of just 13 high school InvenTeams by the Lemelson-MIT Program to create a technological invention that solves a problem stemming from the local community.
With less than five percent of districts across the nation earning this award, it acknowledges GISD’s dedication to transformational change in the interest of equity and the well-being of all students.
Ten GISD students have earned a prestigious title shared by just 16,000 high schoolers nationwide. The academically talented seniors were named National Merit Semifinalists—a distinction less than one percent of U.S. students received this year.
GISD is home to two special programs impacting the lives of our English Language Learners (EL). For nearly a decade, AVID Excel and EL Leadership has been providing students tools to maximize their social, personal and academic potential.
