Essential services continue despite district closure

March 16 was the day Garland ISD students and staff were supposed to return from spring break. Instead, district administrators made the difficult decision to remain closed for the health and safety of the tri-city community. But despite its closure, GISD continues to ensure the needs of all families are met. From curbside meals to technology device distribution, we are #GISDAlwaysConnected.

Curbside meals are served at 33 schools across Garland, Rowlett and Sachse, which were chosen based on guidelines from the Texas Department of Agriculture. Since March 16, approximately 300,000 breakfasts and lunches have been provided to children 18 and younger, regardless of whether they attend GISD. For more information, visit the curbside meals web page.

During these trying times, the district also understands that not all students have access to technology devices to continue their virtual learning. Garland ISD mobilized teachers and staff to distribute more than 18,000 devices to date. And, campuses continue to work with students and parents to gauge technology needs and provide help.
