Athletic, cheer, drill and marching band practices resume

In light of updated guidance from Dallas County Health and Human Services and the UIL, Garland ISD will resume its athletic strength and conditioning programs for football, volleyball, team tennis and cross country, as well as cheer, drill and marching band rehearsals, on Monday, August 24.

We have been closely monitoring neighboring districts that have already resumed their practices, and are eager to provide our students with enough time to prepare for the season and to prevent injuries. Our practices will be held outside of school hours until students return for face-to-face learning on September 8.

Strict health and safety protocols will also be followed, and are outlined in our Reopening Schools Instructional Guidebook. All other practices will resume when students return for face-to-face learning on September 8.
