With healthcare costs on the rise, we offer an affordable and convenient resource to our employees. All full-time staff members, as well as their spouses and legal dependents, are invited to take advantage of the district’s Employee Clinic.
The clinic offers $10 visits regardless of insurance. While not designed to replace primary care providers, a physician assistant or nurse practitioner will treat minor illnesses—sore throat, earache, sinuses, etc.
Everyone that visits the clinic must have the GISD employee's ID number each time they visit the clinic.
All minors need to be accompanied by an adult, and anyone 18 or older must present an ID during check-in. If a parent or guardian is unable to accompany their child, they may send an authorized representative as long as the clinic has a Patient Information form filled out by them. See the Registration Documents section for all forms.
We have a limited number of appointments each day. We want to be sure that all these time slots are available to those in need and not wasted due to no-shows.
If you are unable to make it to your appointment, we ask that you call one hour prior to your scheduled appointment to notify us. If you miss three appointments without providing proper notice, our clinic will no longer be able to serve you.
UIL and Special Olympics physicals
Physicals are by appointment only and only children of GISD employees are eligible. To receive a Special Olympics physical the athlete must be eligible in Oracle. UIL sports physicals will be performed Tuesday-Thursday (except during flu season), and Special Olympics physicals will be performed on Tuesdays starting at 4 p.m. (except during flu season). Be sure your athlete brings/wears:
- Eyeglasses or contacts (if applicable)
- Completed physical forms including signatures
- Picture ID
- $10 clinic fee (MasterCard, VISA, or cash)

- Walk-ins welcome from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Appointments only from 1:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
Fridays 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
- Walk-ins welcome from 7:30 a.m.-12 noon
- Appointments only from 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

The $10 fee can be paid using MasterCard, VISA, or cash only. The clinic is not accepting checks at this time.
No. Insurance is not required. And, since the clinic does not file with insurance, the fee will not count toward a deductible.
Yes. Clinic fees are allowable expenses.
GISD employees must list their spouses and dependents in Oracle. Upon visiting the clinic, employees can present their ID badge for personal treatment. Spouses and dependents will be looked up in Oracle by clinic staff.
The clinic is not designed to replace primary care providers and will not be able to authorize medication refills (of any kind), provide follow-up visits or address any chronic care/illnesses.
The clinic treats minor illnesses such as:
- sore throat
- upper respiratory/ flu
- ear aches
- pink eye
- sinus infections
- urinary tract infections
- insect bites
Legal dependents aged 2-27 are welcome. Children under the age of 2 should see their pediatrician due to required immunizations.
No. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires you to have health insurance for yourself and your dependents. Access to the GISD Employee Clinic will not satisfy the ACA requirement.
A physician assistant will be on duty at all times. Physician assistants are state-licensed and nationally certified medical professionals who complete six or more years of healthcare education. The physician assistant is under the direction of a licensed physician.
No. GISD employees seeking treatment for a work-related injury must choose an in-network physician approved by our workers’ compensation carrier.
No. Prescriptions will be sent electronically to the patient’s pharmacy of choice.
No. Patients will be referred to outside sources for X-rays if necessary.
