GEF surprises staff with thousands in grants, scholarships

The Garland ISD Education Foundation (GEF) recently surprised teachers and paraprofessionals with thousands in grants and scholarships. The annual spring giveaway tour awarded nearly $95,000, including three $10,000 Texas Instruments (TI) Foundation Innovations in STEM Teaching Awards.

“We are so excited to be able to present these awards,” said GEF President Lisa Cox. “There is nothing like being able to honor our amazing, exceptional teachers and their impact. The work that they do is so important for the students in Garland ISD.”

This year’s grant winners will enhance classrooms, schools and departments with everything from hydroponic kits to audiobooks to choir uniforms. In addition to increasing innovation at their campuses, the three lucky TI Foundation winners will also get to use half of their $10,000 awards for personal use.
