GISD celebrates Class of 2018's highest-achieving students

Garland ISD recently honored its highest-achieving students at the annual Senior Summit Luncheon. The top 10 students from each high school, as well as the top two from Memorial Pathway Academy, their favorite teachers, proud parents, and beaming administrators gathered to celebrate May 30 at the Curtis Culwell Center.

The affair featured selfie stations, lively conversations and messages of encouragement. Superintendent Ricardo López and Board of Trustees President Jed Reed addressed the crowd with words of awe and inspiration.

"As we come to that celebratory graduation, we honor each of you. We honor you the parent. We honor you the teacher. We honor you the students. Take what you have learned and go and do great things,” Reed said. “Change the world—either minutely or in great spans. But always remember those of us in the past because we will support you to our dying day.”

A video featuring the 72 top seniors then followed, entertaining the crowd and revealing where GISD’s most-accomplished students will continue their educational journey.
