After months of research, development and testing, Garland ISD is debuting redesigned websites for all district campuses. The sleek, visually appealing sites will not only look more contemporary, they will also enhance the editing experience for campus staff who volunteer as webmasters.
The district’s Web Services team spearheaded the comprehensive project, which kicked off last fall. The team focused on developing a modern product stakeholders would find both useful and eye-catching. To gather feedback, Web Services initiated a survey and created a focus group. More than 80 percent of survey respondents reported that they visit campus sites to seek school news and events. User-friendliness was also identified as a priority.
The newly designed homepage of every campus website places news and upcoming events front and center. At the bottom of the homepage, visitors will see campus-specific facts, programs and photos highlighting unique aspects of that particular school. Improved color contrast and device adaptation help make the sites more accessible to all users.
Those familiar with the current design need not worry. The renewed sites feature the same main navigation, meaning the process to find content practically remains unchanged.
Redesigned campus websites are slated to go live Thursday, Aug. 16. Get interactive and check out your school's site at garlandisd.net/schools.
